Katz Abosch has worked with clients in a variety of ways within
different aspects of their accounting systems in regards to federal
government contracts. We have assisted clients with the following:
- Establishing an accounting system which meets the minimum requirements
necessary to support a government contract.
- Developing a chart of accounts in such a format that provides
the ability to segregate direct costs for each contract and a
logical accumulation of overhead, general and administrative
pools.
- Training accounting personnel to determine how costs should
be segregated and recorded; assisting them in establishing what
is considered direct costs, overhead costs, general and administrative
costs, or inadmissible costs.
- Preparing overhead rate calculations for clients who do not
have the personnel available to handle this task. We also assist
and review rates for our larger contractors.
- Representation during the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)
audit process.
Timekeeping and accounting policies that address government audit
agency requirements are important to a company with government
contracts. We review these policies and make the recommendations
for proper oversight and control of these functions.
